One of the hymns we'll be singing today is "Sweet Hour of Prayer" calling us to spend time talking to God. We spend time on our cell phones - talking, texting and, for some of us, emailing. We spend time, some of us, on our "land line" talking to friends and family. We have friends, and family, that we check on regularly if not daily. How much time, daily, do we spend talking to God?
This week think about all the ways you could be talking to God, all the things you could be talking to God about and all the people/things you could be bringing to God in prayer. I encourage you to start by thanking, praising, God for the blessings God has given. Then you can think of the acronym A C T S -- Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving and Supplication -- for everything going on in your life.
An hour does seem like a long time so start smaller -- maybe even the minute we started with! One of the reminders, in the hymn "Sweet Hour," is "that calls us from a world of care." When things, the world, are starting to get to us stopping, praying and being with God could really help us get through even if it is for "just a minute."
