So..... Quiet! The rush of preparation, schedules, travel finished. Are we rejoicing in the quiet? Are we continuing to celebrate Christmas? This is the 6th day of Christmas, by the way, so we should still be celebrating - rejoicing! We may not be giving each of the gifts, from the 12 days of Christmas song, but we can still be rejoicing! We can be rejoicing in the snow, the quiet, the 'finish' of the preparations even in the wonder of the special gifts given and received. We especially, however, need to be rejoicing! in the celebration of our Lord's birth!
Today's Scripture reading is the first 17 verses of Matthew. Yup, another list of names! The point Matthew is making, however, is the keeping of God's promise. God keeps God's promises!! The Messiah did come and will come again! Good Christian friends we CAN rejoice in this!! We can share this!
The Christmas Eve Scripture, in Luke 2, reminds us "there was no room in the inn." My question, during the service, was "do we have room in our hearts for Jesus?" Can we come together, maybe even regularly (like on Sunday mornings?) to worship, praise and "rejoice"? Interesting things to think about as we continue to celebrate the 12 days of Christmas, put things away, prepare for a New Year and enjoy the winter "up north."
Celebrate, my "good friends"! Rejoice! God keeps God's promises!!
