At the same time, while everyone was having a good time, we got quite a bit done. My son, and I, worked on where I think God is leading next. A grandson helped me with technology (for which I am VERY thankful!) because, as you know, technology and I do not always play well. We saw a lot of Voyageur National Park, learned about mining, had play time together and - with the first group of people (friends) we did VBS. So, yes, this has been a hectic, but fun, few weeks.
All of which brings to mind the Gospel reading for today - John 15:1--4. Jesus is reminding us that He is "the vine" and "to bear fruit" we must remain in Him. I understand the context of the branches remaining with the vine to bear fruit (raspberries anyone?!) but I want to point out something else too. In order for us to stay strong, to be able to face hectic schedules and our 'giants,' we need to stay connected. We need to make sure we have the time with God both personal and in fellowship with others (worship).
I was reminded, over the last few weeks, of Psalm 121 "I look to the mountains - where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth." (emphasis mine) Yes, it has been hectic but fun. Yes, we have gotten a lot done -- VBS, confirmation on where God is leading, and more technology. Yes it IS quiet today - at least in this house - but with the help, and strength, coming from the Vine, we can continue to move forward to face 'giants,' busy schedules, and even (yes, I am beginning to believe this) technology.
