Celebrating, remembering, Emmanuel - God with us(!) - should be happening all year long. We should be so excited about God with us, knowing God IS with us, through our journeys in life that we are celebrating. That is an interesting concept isn't it?
Psalm 121 asks where does my help come from? Then answers it, verse 2, "my help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth." This last week has been even more hectic than 'usual.' We have had VBS at both churches (Crane Lake in the morning, Kab for supper and evening) which has brought LIFT Ministries to stay with me while they "do" the VBS. So, extra people to feed, more driving, things to prepare with little, to no, time for myself and quiet. I did keep God time, and get some time to quilt, but not as much as "usual."
Sounds like Advent, and the Holidays, doesn't it? So much happening, things added to the regular schedule, and more people around us - making it hard to have time for us. God is reminding us, with the Christmas story, of Emmanuel - God WITH us -- in our journeys, with the changes happening, and facing our 'giants.' We can celebrate that. We can share that. We can, as one of the hymns this morning says, "Go Tell It On The Mountain"!
