I'm asking people at, or connected with, both churches to do something "new" for this Lenten season. Instead of 'giving something up' I would like you to add something. I agree if you add something to a busy schedule something else might have to be given up -- but I think it is well worth the effort. I'm asking people to "add in" God time in prayer. To be actually in God's Word (Scripture) talking to, and with, God. To have MORE time, in prayer, than you previously have done. I know some of you, like me, have God time before your feet "hit the floor," in the mornings, and before you turn out the light at night. I'm asking you to add to that another time with God "in." I, personally, added having breakfast with God back in November. It has really changed, improved, encouraged, enriched (I can't think of more words) my prayer/God time!
I would like to recommend two books to assist with this change. They are both by Mark Batterson. The first is: The Circle Maker. The second is a 40 day prayer challenge that goes with it called: Draw the Circle. I admit I read The Circle Maker before I knew about the second book, or the 40 day challenge, so the "order" doesn't really matter. If you have to pick one I would suggest start with Draw the Circle.
I know -- change is difficult enough with out adding something new! But like the "Life" commercials from when we were much younger -- "try it! You MIGHT like it!!"
