Our Scripture readings today are Genesis 12:1-9 and Matthew 28:19 & 20. God is sending Abram "where I will show you." (Genesis 12:1) Jesus is sending all of us "out to make Disciples." We have been 'facing our giant,s' and trying to follow where God is leading, all summer. "New" things can be very scary, I know, but God gives Abram (he becomes Abraham later in the story) promises God is still keeping today. Jesus is still calling to each, and all, of us to "go." Are we. like last week, following directions? Can we face the "giant" of the NEW idea to try or the new way to do something?
New school years, new seasons, new things (even planned things like weddings and babies) mean changes. Changes can be scary. Storms (like Florence still affecting the east coast) are definitely scary and include changes! Do we remember God IS with us? Do we remember God keeps God's promises? Can we get past the at least concern, if not outright fear, the changes make? Can we follow God's directions to go/do/share? Interesting thoughts for while we admire the changing colors, on the trees, and work through the "new" season/school year.
