We have been talking about 'facing our giants.' We all have "giants" even though each of our giants is different. Some giants can be 'faced' and we move on. Some giants are with us and we need to 'face' them every day. Facing them once, and they are 'gone', or facing them everyday, it is still helpful if we have a plan for how we are going to face them and what we are going to do as we face them.
David, in 1 Samuel 17, stops, picks up 5 smooth stones, puts them in his bag and "with his sling" goes to face Goliath. (verse 40) He knows God is with him, which he points out to Goliath in verse 45, so he is prepared for "facing the giant." We aren't given the details of David's plan but, if you think about it, you can tell David has a plan. It is one of the 'tools' David has, and uses, like we spoke of last week.
So I ask you...... What is your plan for facing your "giant"? Does it have specific goals so you can know you have reached said goals? Have you told anyone about it -- so you can report the success AND have someone praying for you? Have you, if needed, asked someone to help you - to share their tools with you? Do you have some backup plans in case, or when, the unexpected happens?
Something to be thinking about, and maybe working toward, as we each "face our giant(s)." Meanwhile have a wonderful Father's Day! If you can - hug (and/or call) your Dad. If you can't - celebrate by hugging someone else's Dad!
