Our Scripture reading, this morning, is 2 Samuel 7 where David is wanting to build a 'dwelling' (house) for God. Nathan, the prophet that has taken over for Samuel, reminds David that God has been with David as a shepherd, as a warrior, and as the king -- always with David. (verse 9) Nathan also tells David that David's "house, and kingdom shall rule forever." AND, in Luke 1:32, the angel is telling Mary that "the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David." Emmanuel -- God with us! Paul reminds us, several places, but especially in 2 Corinthians 6:16, that WE are the "temple of God."
Somehow that causes us to think a little differently doesn't it? WE are the 'temple' of the Living God. God's Spirit fills us. How are we taking care of that 'temple'? Are we strengthening our relationship with God so as our schedules fill up, or change happens, we KNOW that God IS with us? Or are we thinking God's 'house' is where we go to worship on Sunday mornings -- been there done that now I'm done -- and that's enough?
I encourage you, this week to be seeing if this is a 'giant' God is asking you to work on. Think about how you can strengthen your relationship with God so the "foundations" of your 'temple' are strong.
