Our Scripture reading is still in 1 Samuel 17. David is getting ready to face Goliath. We are getting ready to face our "giants." Some giants we face "once and done." Some 'giants' we face daily. David had been in training most of his life. He was a shepherd. He protected his sheep from all kinds of 'giants.' He also had a strong relationship with God. He knew God had been with him in the past (when he faced lions and bears) and was with him now -- "and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel! And everyone assembled here will know that the LORD rescues his people, but not with sword and spear. This is the LORD's battle, and he will give you to us!" (v. 46 & 47 NLT)
Of course we know the "rest of the story." We not only know David wins we also know Emmanuel, God with us. When we think about it we even know we are supposed to, and need to, have daily time with God - in "training" as it were. Is it easy? NO! Is it needed? YES!!!
We can face our 'giants' daily, and once/done, because we know, like David the "battle is the Lord's." This week think about the training God is asking you to do. Think about what will, probably, have to change so you can do the training. Think about the "tools" God has given you so you can face the giant. Think about using those tools to face your giant and help others face their giant.
