The Scripture reading, this morning, is Exodus 32 -- the Hebrew people are tired of waiting for Moses to "come down the mountain." If you think about it they have "only" been living this new life (of freedom and following) for about 3 months. They are still learning, and growing, while following. They are, when they think about it, tired and confused. Do you feel that way, also, as you try to follow where God is leading -- learning, growing and strengthening your relationship with God while you continue to work, do daily tasks, take care of family and all the other things that pull at our time and energy?
The Hebrew people asked for, and got, an idol. When we get tired are we turning to idols -- the sports hero, the movie star, the "game" (what ever game for what ever season)? Our idol may, or may not, be a 'golden calf' but are we turning to God or are we, like the Hebrew people, trying to follow an idol (false god)?
I encourage you, this week, to think on this. I encourage you to strengthen your relationship with God. Listen for what God is saying to you even if it IS a time of waiting. I encourage you to help each other to stay strong and to KNOW that God IS with you. God IS with you -- as we wait, as we help AND as we 'face the giant.'
