        Churches of the Mobile Ministry

        Crane Lake Chapel

        Picture
The Crane Lake Chapel, in the heart of the border wilderness of Northern Minnesota, seeks to be a christian witness in the land of the Voyageurs.  Located on the route used by the Voyageur fur traders, Crane Lake, Minnesota is between the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCA) and Voyageurs National Park.

Non-denominational, the Chapel is the first fruit
of work begun in the area by the American
Sunday School Union in 1947.  This beginning
has been continued under the leadership of a number of groups.  The Chapel has received pastoral leadership from the UMC Mobile Ministry since 1966.  The original building was built in 1950 and now includes two later additions to the charming chapel.

We seek to minister to the entire Crane Lake community and we feel a special responsibility to those who spend their vacation and leisure time in our area.  Everyone is welcome to share in the activities of the Chapel and a very special welcome is extended to visitors.  "Come as you are" is the invitation in our relaxed and informal services.

        SUNDAY SERVICE - 11:30 am
The first Sunday of each month Communion during worship.

        Kabetogama United Methodist Church

        Picture
The Kabetogama (Kaba-to'ga-ma) United Methodist Church is located in the rugged northern wilderness of Minnesota.
We seek to be a christian witness
to Lake Kabetogama and the surrounding area.  Our congregation began in 1961 under the leadership
of the Mobile Ministry of the United Methodist Church which serves the area.  Services were first held in a vacant home in the area, and the church itself was built in 1963. We just celebrated our 50th anniversary!

The beauty of our sanctuary is greatly enriched by the hand-carved pulpit, baptismal font, candelabra and altar, all made by Mr. Herman Melheim, a local resident.

We feel that our ministry is that of a community church, serving the needs of the whole community.  Everyone is welcome to attend our worship service and activities of the church.  As we feel a special responsibility to you who spend your leisure and vacation time with us, a very special welcome is extended to you, our visitors.  In our informal setting, "Come as you are" is our invitation.
