In the midst of looking at these we are also reminded of attacks, almost daily, and told to be 'careful.' This is spoken of even more today as we remember exactly where we were and what we were doing 15 years ago. (I was just starting to study Hebrew in my first month of seminary.) One of our 'giants' is the world around us, the pressure to have more, do more, be more and, especially (at least it feels like), to be afraid. I think we need to face this 'giant' and show the world our faith in God -- who holds us by the hand AND in God's hand (from my friend Isaiah!).
The Scripture reading, this morning, is Genesis 2:7 "Then the LORD God formed man of the dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living being." (NAS) God 'breathed" and gave the "breath of life." God WITH US -- Emmanuel!
Yes, remember where we were, what we were doing. Yes, be aware of your surroundings -- for the beauty of the trees and God's creation if for nothing else. I encourage you, however, to take time to STOP and BREATHE so you can remember God "breathed" the "breath of life" into us. Feel God's presence IN and WITH you as we face our giants, our calendars and the world.
