We've been facing our 'giants' -- or at least thinking about it. We've been talking about taking 'time' to be with God. Are these things we have "promised' ourselves we were actually going to do? Have we actually done them or just thought about the idea? Is your, or our, 'giant' the change keeping these promises would bring?
Our Scripture reading, today, is in Genesis 15 where Abram (he isn't Abraham yet!) is beginning to wonder about God's promise. He has left, with his wife and nephew, the land "of his father" and gone to a "land I will show you." Abram sees the land, lives on the land and actually has a pretty good life ON the land but the promise of descendants hasn't happened. Abram is starting to question. We aren't given the exact time frame but we can tell it has been a long time from "promise given" and it still hasn't happened.
God encourages Abram to TRY to count the stars (which we can see so beautifully here in the north country!) because that is how many descendants he (Abram) will have. Abram "believes God" and is counted as "righteous."
What about us? Have you been promising to do something but haven't yet? Is someone waiting on your promise? OR, like Abram, have you felt God's call and promise but haven't really 'seen' it yet? Do you feel God's presence with you while you are waiting?
I can tell you, like Abram, that GOD KEEPS GOD"S PROMISES! Feel God's presence with you even if you are waiting.
