We have been looking at the various ideas of "time" which got me to thinking about seasons. Right now, as I type this, it is suppose to be "spring." That is because the weather person and the calendar tells us that, the church tells us that -- because we just celebrated Easter Sunday and we are still in the Easter "season," and because the sometimes the temps even tell us it is spring. Then I look at my deck, that got 3" of snow, yesterday, with more expected today. The temps are back below freezing, especially at night, BUT they are above zero!
All of which makes a person begin to wonder what "time" or "season" it really is. Even the Gospel reading, this morning, is about the disciples questioning, wondering if they can believe what they see and can hear. The reading in Acts, this morning, says that "he showed himself and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive." (Acts 1:3) All of which could make a person start wondering not just what "season" is it but what do we believe.
Thankfully we don't have to believe the weather report, the snow on the deck or the temps outside. Thankfully we, like Mary, can be excited that this IS the Easter "season." We can greet people with "He is risen!" We can answer people with "He IS risen, indeed!" We can celebrate the Easter "season" because Emmanuel, God with us, IS with us.
