The Gospel reading, today, is Mark 8:27--29. Jesus is asking the Disciples "who" people say He is. Then He asks the Disciples "who" THEY say He is. Jesus is asking US that. "WHO" do we say He is? Last week we 'celebrated' Christmas in July so do we say He is Emmanuel --- God with us? Do we say Messiah? Do we say 'friend'? Savior? How do YOU answer the question?
We DID celebrate Christmas in July -- Emmanuel, God WITH us -- last week. We've been talking about 'facing our giants' and following where God is leading. One of 'our' summer people pointed out, because we have been talking about the 5 stones David picked up to face Goliath, that J-E-S-U-S IS 5 stones. I would say, then, that Jesus is the ROCK. The Rock we hold onto as we face the giant, as we face the change(s) as we move forward to follow where God is leading.
Jesus is asking, and so am I, "Who do YOU say I am?"
